Hi! I'm Maggie and I'm an intern at Mixed Greens for the summer. Today I had some down time and was able to run out to see some shows-all close by given the fact that this weather has been so hot and I unfortunately did not have water! Here were the three most exciting of the nine I was able to catch today:
James Cohan Gallery
Alison Elizabeth Taylor's Foreclosed
·
Surprised by the artists choice of medium, wood inlay. What you first think to
be a canvas is actually wood-enjoyed this element of surprise and diversity!
Claire Oliver Gallery
Judith Schaechter Beauty and the Beef
·
Catchy title!
· Cathedral-like atmosphere. The stain glass effect and the light from behind illuminates each works
vibrant and diverse range of colors.
·The narrative appears to be a dramatic,
semi-tortured fairytale.
· Totally reminded me of a manuscript illumination piece-modern spin on a medieval era book design style.
Stephen Haller Gallery
Ron Ehrlich
· Loved the diverse colors!
·
I enjoyed the smooth, thick and rough textures used for each work.
