Good God--another one?
The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays. This is not new news (it's new to me though)...but it relates to my old old post about funky museum schedules. I think the New Museum is closed on Tuesdays--I found this out the hard way. [can you tell that I'm preparing for a trip to Paris?]

In other news....countdown to Zane Lewis' exhibition. The exhibition opens this Thursday (OPENING reception September 10th, 6-8pm)

The Second Annual Terna Prize for Contemporary Art (Terna Prize 02).

This competition is open to artists of all nationalities working in
Italy and New York City.

THEME:
Energy:Mankind = Future:Environment
Proportions for new aesthetics

There are four categories:

TERAWATT: By invitation only, reserved to experienced artists with
established activity in Italy and/or abroad.
Prize: 100,000 Euros

GIGAWATT: Artists under 35 years of age, working in Italy.
First Prize - "Artist Residency Program" of three months in New York
City. Second and third prizes - purchase prize bonuses for the value
of 4,000 and 3,000 Euros, respectively

MEGAWATT: Artists over 35 years of age, working in Italy.
First Prize - "Artist Residency Program" of three months in New York
City. Second and third prizes - purchase prize bonuses for the value
of 4,000 and 3,000 Euros, respectively

CONNECTIVITY: Open to artists of all nationalities working in New York City

Above: full installation shot and detail shot of Sonya Blesofsky's Concertina--an installation of razor-wire made from hand-cut vellum, glue and tape.

Above: Alyson Shotz's Untitled--a hanging, galaxy-like sculpture of wire, fresnel lenses, and glass beads.

Above: Mary Temple's Not Disproportionate to the Inner Light--a found window frame with handpainting, silkscreen, and iridescent pigment (casting the bird's shadow against the wall)
